GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // MAY 10, 2016

Gratitudes
Another wedding in the books from this past weekend. Katie + Sam celebrated their marriage at Piedmont Golf Club in Haymarket, Virginia. The affair was decorated with shades of pink, blush and gold glitter! Katie looked like a bridal goddess in her white layered dress and Sam looked so sharp in his suit. Easy; that’s how I’d describe their love for one another. It was so natural for them, their expressions. laughter and embraces. These two have been waiting for a wedding for a long time, and it wasn’t short of a loud and fun reception. My favorite two things from the wedding were her gold sparkle Kate Spade shoes and her wedding cake covered in rainbow-colored sprinkles!
Now that it’s spring, I’m letting go of my winter-time hermit tendencies and I’m excited to get out and meet friends for a little socialization, dinner or cocktails. This past week I put that in over drive and hosted two sets of friends here. After the necessary taco and margarita celebration on Cinco de Mayo, we had friends over with their pup for a bottle of wine. Followed up by Friday with wine and cheese at the new place before heading to grab pizza at one of our favorite restaurants. And then Sunday I was able to meet two of my favorite people in Middleburg for a quick headshot session and a cocktail at Red Horse Tavern. It was nice entertaining and catching up. I think sometimes our adult lives take over with responsibilities that we forget that we need these meaning relationships and conversations to feel fulfilled and at ease.
On to another polish change. I won a bet last week, which means I got a new polish color. This week I’m wearing Mod about You. It’s a light pink, that sort of reminds of an “It’s a girl!” baby announcement. While light pink isn’t usually my style, I was hoping it would be pretty bright – and I was right! On my nails it almost looks like that super trendy chalk paint – bright and flat. I’ll be wearing it throughout the spring and summer for sure. Check it out!
Breakthroughs
I’m not good in the kitchen, that’s no secret to friends of mine. I have good intentions but, understanding a recipe is like learning a foreign language. Sometimes I attempt new recipes which I usually fail miserably at and resort to an “emergency pizza.” For those of you not familiar with the term “emergency pizza” it’s that frozen one that you have in the fridge when you accidentally run out of food or royally screw up the recipe. Well friends, this week I messed up my emergency pizza. I attempted to cook it while editing Jenna + Sean’s wedding. I checked on it three times. I did it the right way too; I didn’t open the oven to let the heat out, I turned on that trusty oven light. Each time it looked closer and closer to being done and then I got caught up in editing. I burned it, one side was border-line inedible. The notion that I cannot cook was once again reinforced; I, Krysta Norman, am not a cook. I also learned that maybe, just maybe it isn’t the best idea to cook and edit at the same time. The good news is the wedding was delivered ahead of schedule and I skipped the calories of the pizza, the bad news is I moved on to Ramen – a culinary delicacy – I can get down on as well as a bag of Sour Punch Straws.
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
