GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // February 28, 2017

Gratitudes
Celebrations all around this week folks!
You’ll notice up top a very familiar photo of mine and an even popular magazine, The Knot! I’m so excited to share that an image from Emma + Haleigh’s Georgetown engagement session was featured in their DC, Maryland & Virginia print issue for Spring/Summer 2017. It’s such an honor to be featured in a leading publication that inspires couples getting married. This is definitely a photographer’s dream, as well as a huge, huge milestone for my business!
I’m officially headed back to Italy this fall… to shoot a wedding on the Amalfi Coast! I am beyond excited at the opportunity to get to photograph another Italian wedding, and spend time soaking up the sunshine and the views of the ever popular coast line. I have been slowly compiling a list of must-see things while I’m there! Do you have any I could add to my list? I’ll be traveling with my fellow photographer and friend Alicia with Love Knot Photo! I can’t wait to explore and actually have photos of Italy with me in them!
Saturday I visited Kensey and Jason’s new home to help celebrate the purchase of their new home. I did the most responsible thing and bought them super nifty under-the-sink organizers, and if you know my sister – she loved them! There were almost 50 people that came to say congratulations with a buffet table full of yummy snacks, coffee, sangria, wine and champagne!
If you haven’t noticed I usually jump to extremes with nail polish, this week you’ll find me in Bubble Bath. The most beloved nude OPI has to offer. I can’t tell you how many of my brides use this shade for their wedding day. For me, I love how clean and polished it looks. There is just a subtle hint of pink. Now I do think this polish is ultra sheer so I layer on the color – 3+ coats usually before my top coat.
Breakthroughs
I’d say for this week I learned to place more value in self care. Years ago I had a self care routine down and it included lots of yoga, pedicures, skin care products, naps, scheduled time off, etc. Somewhere in between grad school and creating this business I lost that. I kept pushing aside those things because at the time they weren’t a top priority. I think we’ve all been there, lost a routine that brought us peace. I’ve been working on regaining that in a way that is positive and empowering. This week I’ve had to actively tell myself that the laundry can wait while I take a quick yoga class and so far it’s worked. I’ve felt so much more at peace and put together than when I miss a class. I also splurged and bought a skincare line to help fight these fine lines that have been popping on my face. At night I’ve been telling myself that it’s part of my “self care routine” and I need to pretreat future wrinkles from popping up!
What have you done for self care recently?
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
