GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // APRIL 10, 2018

Gratitudes
I am happy to announce that I officially joined Hunt Country Celebrations. It’s a wedding collective that concentrates it work within the Middleburg area. I’ve been eyeing this group for a while but couldn’t figure out how to join. I was lucky to be invited to a networking meeting in March and applied in April. I’m excited for a new networking group focused on the hunt country area where all of the rolling Virginia hills, soft mountain views, wineries and manor houses are!
I finally made my way to Whole Ox in Marshall for a happy hour catch up session with my friend Jenny. It was a late birthday celebration, but more so an excuse to finally get together. I sampled their french fries and garlic aioli and it was amazing. I also opted for two glasses of their rosé. The menu was stacked with grass fed burgers, chicken sandwiches and a few solid steak options, but it was a little to early for dinner. I’ll have to make my way back there for lunch with an empty stomach soon!
Friday afternoon I made the trek to D.C. to spend time with Ayla. We were in need of some serious girl time, and her boyfriend Francesco requested some Mosby time. So we both went up ready to explore. I brought a bottle of Stone Tower Winery Rose to share on their rooftop with fresh parmesan. I swear her building has the coolest rooftop spots with a pool, plenty of lounge seating and clear views of the Capitol Building. We were winding down from a busy work week and picked a po’boy joint for dinner and stopped in to Whole Foods for take home dessert. Ayla and I woke up early to beat the crowds to see the Cherry Blossoms early Saturday morning. It was pretty cold. We had hoped for warm weather and a peek of sunshine but were let down. We braved the chill and walked the tidal basin with our coffees. After we walked back to her neighborhood for brunch of Busboys and Poets and a draft latte at La Colombe. Meanwhile, Francesco and Mosby had their own morning with city walks and snuggles.
I wanted to brag a little about my friend Cathleen with Curious Fox Press. She teamed up with Leah Letters to create a semi custom invitation suite for Shadow Creek in Purcellville, Virginia. Together with Leah’s custom calligraphy and Cathleen’s letterpress work these invitations are chic! These are offered exclusively for Shadow Creek couples! I heard a rumor that more semi custom suites are coming for some of hunt countries favorite venues! Make sure you check out Cathleen’s work so you don’t miss out!
This week I was finally feeling the shifts in moving. I’ve made some major changes in the last month including my home and honestly my life routine. I do finally feel like I’m settling in and getting into my groove so I wanted a polish that reflected that. I went with Suzi Does Feng Shui, from the Hong Kong Collection. This jewel tone polish is a deep cobalt blue with a hint of green.
Breakthroughs
I’ve started small things to help me better prepare for the week. These small steps have really made an impact on how smoothly my week goes. I work at the winery on Tuesdays and Thursdays so on Mondays I’ve been packing my lunches so they are ready to go in the mornings when I leave. I’ve also been scheduling my yoga classes for the week so I have them blocked off on my calendar – it holds me accountable. I’ve also started prepping my yoga bag the night before class with a towel, mat towel, change of clothes and an EmergenC packet. That way if I’m running a little late, a hiccup like that won’t convince me to skip the class.
While these things are pretty small, in the last week I have found that they’ve made a difference in making my week a little less hectic. I’m hoping to find a few more ways to help add more easy to my Monday through Fridays.
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
