GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // JUNE 5, 2018

Gratitudes
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve dedicated the time to sit down and write about my weekly happenings. The move has presented itself with an internet problem, meaning I don’t have access to it daily. Odd right, like it’s 2019. It’s true though. Before I used to be able to sit down and write when I felt inspired and schedule each Tuesday post, but now I can’t do that. So they’ve been a more infrequent. I’m working on that! I do want to share with you what I’ve been up too lately.
If you follow along on Instagram you would have noticed I picked up a Fiddle Leaf Fig tree from a past bride. It has been a plant that I have wanted for close to two years; I just couldn’t bring myself to actually purchase it. Brittany has transitioned from bride to friend and I’ve watched her fall in love with plants and also thrifting! She was selling her extra Fiddle Leaf Fig and I reached out hoping to secure it but someone beat me to it. I figured this was the universe telling me it wasn’t my time and I should wait. A few hours later Brittany sent me a message letting me know that the original purchaser backed out and the plant was free to go to me! I was so excited. Brittany also threw in a few clippings from her personal collection so I could root them and plant them in mine. This was the same week of the Royal Wedding so I decided to name my new plant Prince Harry.
It’s official! I’m going to Ireland and Italy. Ireland has been on my travel list for SO LONG. I have found though most of my friends that travel have already been and while they loved it they don’t want to go back when they can explore a new location or they just simply want to go somewhere else. I’ve been trying to knock Ireland out for a few years and this year I decided even though I would have to go alone I was going. I found a really good deal on flights in and out of Dublin and I’ll be there for a total of 6 days. From there I’ll fly over to Rome to meet Ayla to drive through the Italian countryside. Right now, we are thinking of definitely making a stop at Lake Cuomo and the Dolomites. If you’ve been to any of these places and have restaurant, shops, sites, etc that you just love please, please send them my way!
Memorial Day weekend we celebrated my Goddaughter’s First birthday! Evelyn Anne is officially 1 and our family had a huge cookout! It’s so crazy how fast a year went by. She has 7 teeth, loves apple cinnamon cheerios, bananas and her stuffed mermaid. She sleeps like a frog and has a giggle that could melt anyones heart!
This past weekend I was up in New Jersey with Alicia Bruce of The Alicia Bruce. I went up to second shoot and hang out in her families new pool. We also had the opportunity to grab lunch with our business coach Kristen Kalp right outside of Philly. Kristen has been an intricate part in me shaping my business this year. She is a talented business coach who has a heart filled with rainbows and a wardrobe to rival that of Lisa Frank, but also has the intuition and business sense to sort through the confusion of owning a business to make a set plan of action. This plan of action also aligns with my business beliefs and how I want to personally run my business, not a one-size fits all plan. Anyway, Alicia and I met her at Forest + Main, a cute beer pub known for their home brews and cheeseburgers. I got both! She also brought her intensely adorable 10 week old puppy, Neville Longbottom. He’s a Cava-lon (King Charles + Papillon mix). He was PRECIOUS. Puppy fever is real.
I decided to take a step to further my yoga practice again. I signed up with Stafford House of Yoga for another round of Yoga Teacher Training. I’ll start the program in mid September and graduate in April. I’m really looking forward to reserving and dedicating space to this program with the goal of actually teaching in 2019! I’ve been practicing consistently again and have finally found my groove. I’m going 4 times a week (2 hot flows and 2 hot sequence) to round out my week. I’m already seeing the strength in my upper body and a release of tension in my lower back and hips. I’m also hopeful this will allow me to connect further with teachers to continue photographing yogis and studios!
Breakthroughs
Do you ever feel like you power through your life? I’ve been known to bulldoze through work and daily routines because I know I need too. There are many positives to that, the biggest being getting shit done. The downfall though is not being aware. I’ve been going to yoga like I said above 4 days a week, an engagement or portrait session sprinkled in here and there, watching Evelyn and shooting a wedding on the weekend. Things are getting done, but I wasn’t realizing how much time had passed. I had to go back and look at when I had moved back home and when I really committed to yoga. It had been over 6 weeks. That’s a long time to not notice. I’m happy to finally be settled in at home and moving toward additional goals, but I need to work on practicing more awareness.
Has this ever happened to you before?
As always thanks for reading, xoxo.
