GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // JUNE 12, 2018
Gratitudes
I love recapping weddings on Tuesday! Saturday Laura + Drew tied the knot at a new venue in Warrenton called Twin Oakes. It’s a lovely manor house with a killer view and the perfect patio/pool combo for cocktail hour. Laura’s dress was insanely gorgeous with custom build halter top and a BHLDN high-low skirt, a hand beaded bridal belt that came all the way from Ireland paired with Badgley Mischka crystal wedges! Their ceremony was outside and it was HOT, like straight up humidity but that didn’t stop the two of them enjoying their intimate ceremony. The officiant started with “We are gathered here today to celebrate… the Capitals winning the Stanley Cup!” and everyone laughed!!! Vows were shared, rings were exchanged and Laura had her official kiss from their Best Man… their 5 year old son Tahkota! Cocktail hour was on the patio with major views of the country. Their reception was built around spending as much time with their friends and family as possible so the opted for heavy hors d‘oeuvres and a live musician. The Best Man delivered a personal toast that had everyone in tears. Right as the party was picking up outside, the venue got hit by that nasty thunderstorm, but it didn’t stop the party. Inside the music played and the Duck Donut bar was open! It was truly a relaxed day for the couple and they got to enjoy every second! Congratulations to Laura + Drew!
Friday night, I spend the evening with the Browers for their summer family session. I don’t advertise or share that I do family sessions but I do them! Typically for friends, family and past clients. It’s a nice mix to chase the littles around and watch them interact with their parents. I am obsessed with how their session turned out and I just might share them on the blog! After Jenny and I had some front-porch-sitting time with a nice cold glass of King Family Vineyards 2017 Crozet – a dry rosè with hints of grapefruit. It was so damn refreshing.
Sunday I drove up to D.C. to see Ayla + Allyson. Allyson used to live in NYC but has since fled the east coast for that west coast living. She was in town for work and we were all lucky enough to align out schedules for dinner. These girls made an amazing stuffed chicken dinner, while I brought the appetizers which included a mix of European cheeses, almonds, dried cherries and crostinis. There is something about a girls dinner that really helps rejuvenate the soul. It felt like no time had passed but it has easily been a years since we were all together.
I forgot to write about my nail polish last week, which does not mean that I went naked. You know I would never do that. Last week I had a bright blue called I Believe in Manicures from the Breakfast at Tiffany’s collection. This week I’m going with the soft pinks and rocking a
