Gratitudes
Tenny Jean has been keeping our hearts and our schedules full. Newborns need so much attention as well as their parents, so I’ve been heading over to Katlyn + Russell’s house to provide them a little relief. I get to sit and snuggle Tenny while they nap, take the dogs for a walk or run errands. I’m so happy to be able to give my time in a way that’s helpful and also fulfilling to me too; being able to spend time with my nieces has become such a treat!
Grandma Jean was taken into the hospital on Monday. If you’re counting that means Grandpa Ron, Katlyn and now Grandma Jean have been in the hospital since August. We are requesting a family discount for our time here. Gran though had to have a cyst taken care of down in her intestines. I was at the hospital with her all day Monday as we waited for test results and the go-ahead to move forward with surgery. I also was the lucky one who got to wear her diamond necklace, wedding ring, band and anniversary band. With word from the doctor she went in for her procedure early this morning and everything has gone well! I’ll be sitting at her bedside today to make sure she’s comfortable and happy.
I don’t know about you but I love hearing stories about how small the world is, so I’m going share this one with you. The nurse that has been taking care of my Grandma is named Lauren. She was a gem yesterday and my Gran kept talking about how attentive and gentle she was. When I came up yesterday we had a little small talk and I was answering emails while she was helping Grandma Jean. She said that she was recently engaged and getting married next year at a local venue and I asked her about her wedding photographer. Turns out… IT WAS ME! We both laughed so hard. You see we had only talked on the phone and through email, and while I was there I was emailing her about her engagement session tomorrow! Friends, the world is small. And I’m so thankful that she is providing care to my Grandma while she recovers!
Are you ready for a laugh? Last week I scheduled to take an afternoon yoga class with one of my favorite teachers, Natalie. I went through teacher training with her back in 2016 and since then I’ve been a fan of her heated flows. I got dressed, packed my bags and got the studio early to wrap up a few emails before class. I saw Natalie, we chatted and I set up my mat in my usual spot up front. I started looking around and noticed that some of the other students had tiny barbelles and a rubber ball. I thought initially they must be staying to take the next class, no one needs those things for a flow class. So I waited, got comfortable and noticed where the mats were placed, along the side of the room, not in the center. I still shook it off, until Natalie put her mat in the middle of the floor, then I knew I made a mistake. I asked what class this was… it was a heated barre class. You guys, I accidently took a barre class. I had been so scared of taking it because, I didn’t want to be insanely sore during the height of wedding season. You know what, I took the 45 minute class and I loved it! I didn’t know what I was doing and I felt lost, but I enjoyed the work out. I was also sore for about 4 days, but it was manageable. So I’m signed up for my second class tomorrow, where I’ll be doubling a hot barre class followed by a hot flow!
The OPI Peru Collection has been out for a while and I’ve been trying to hold off on purchasing all of the colors. I broke down over the weekend and grabbed two for fall! Lima Tell You About This Color is a lively bright pink. A great transition color before hitting those dark reds and deep greens. Alpaca My Bags was my favorite of the whole collection. OPI calls this a blue-green, I would say it’s more of a blue based teal that’s a little dusty. I love the mood of it! I’ll be alternating these the next few weeks from my fingers to toes.
Breakthroughs
I started a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training two weekends ago. It was two 12 hours days full of anatomy, spirituality, asanas and breathwork. I walked in there feeling nervous, because I had gone through a similar program and left without feeling full. I left feeling drained, disappointed and not wanting to teach. I shared last time that I wasn’t the right time for me, but I pushed through anyway. That past experience crept in a little and appeared as fear and apprehension before my first weekend. I had to keep reminding myself that the time was right and I knew both of the teachers personally and I trusted them with this journey. After the first break before our 90 minute hot flow class together, I felt motivated and energized to learn. And with that right there I had a breakthrough around timing and energy.
This time is right because I’m back on my feet again and I have a close support system. If you’ve followed my blog at all this year (2018) my word has been rebuild and I’ve been doing just that. I’ve rebuilt my business, my finances, my personal relationships, my health and more importantly myself. So I know, I’m at a place + time where I’m ready. Combine that with knowing the hearts and the intentions of both Linda + Elena – the leaders for this 200hr training – it’s the right fit. They have the guidance, experience and open hearts to share their gifts. It’s just a reminder that even when you want something that it’s always important to reflect to see if it’s the right time and with the right people. And if you really think about it outside of yoga teacher training, it really applies to a lot of life scenarios.
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
