Gratitudes
This week was filled with so many people and places!
I kicked my week off with a Hunt Country Celebrations meeting at Rick’s Flowers. The meeting was filled with networking, florals and yummy nibbles from Purple Onion Catering.
Friday morning, I had a meeting with Cathleen of Curious Fox Press to work on a little project for my couples. She is an incredible host and had hot coffee and treats from Petite LouLou! I don’t want to give away anything just yet, but something big is coming this summer!
For the last 3 weeks I’ve been working on a personal challenge, taking 4 classes at the yoga studio a week. I’ve been able to maintain that goal! I’ve taken 3 yoga classes (flow or sequence) and one hot barre class. I’m feeling so much stronger, sleeping better and I have more energy!
Saturday I was invited to a Creatives Brunch with style blogger Buki Peters. She brought together a mix of ladies, a brunch buffet and guided conversations to help spark creativity. It was so nice sitting around the table sharing our 2019 goals, laughing over our likenesses and coming together to support one another. Buki also curated the most adorable gift bags for us with goodies from all over Virginia. I snagged the pecan apple butter!
After Brunch I ran down to Purcellville with Alicia to thrift at a local spot. I grabbed two books, y’all know how I love old books. I’ve started collecting old editions of classic literature. Some I’ve read and some I haven’t, but I enjoy the thrill of finding things like the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer published in 1956. I scored it for $1.06. I also grabbed another copy of Sense and Sensibility, this one wasn’t nearly as old but it was so beautifully bound.
Sunday I headed out to Blue Valley Vineyard for a networking event put together by local planner Terry Kaye! She is an amazingly talented planner and so thoughtful with her events. I was able to run into a few friends here like:
Charla Malone // Salon Emage Day Spa
Lora Gookin // Gateau
Rosanna Smith // Bella Villa Antique + Vintage Rentals
Nate Clancy // I’m the DJ
From there we skipped over to Stone Tower Winery for their wedding vendor event and it was a full wine tasting! It was so cute and thoughtful. Full tables with cheese + charcuterie boards paired with 6 wines plus the crowd favorite their sparkling rose! I also ran into so so many of my talented friends:

I’m sure I missed a few of you but there were so many!
I’m going through my natural nail polish cycle. Usually I start with a red (deep or light) then I’ll hop over to the blues/greens, then a purple and then a neutral. If you read back through you’ll see the pattern. So right now I’m ready to head toward neutral so you’ll find me in my new polish Coconuts Over OPI. It’s a creamy taupe that reminds me of the perfectly toasted marshmallow!
Breakthroughs
I think mostly this revolves around how I am self motivated, especially by words. As I mentioned previously my word of the year is resolute. So when I find myself feeling less than motivated or tired or busy with something that isn’t important, I silently say “I am resolute.” And it reorganizes my priorities.
It’s as simple as getting ready for bed but not really wanting to put forth the effort in using all of the fancy skincare oils + serums I bought. Because, if I’m being honest I wait to long to start the process of going to bed, so by the time I’m ready for bed I’m basically asleep. With a little whisper of that mantra I’m up (sometimes begrudgingly), but applying those anti-aging miracle liquids.
The same thing with this yoga challenge, to stay committed to 4 classes a week. Last week was especially difficult because I watched Evelyn Monday + Tuesday and she was sick, like needed to go to the pediatrician and then the ER sick. Wednesday I had my scheduled date with Tenny for the afternoon and Thursday my Dad had surgery. So in order to make that 4 class goal I had to double on Friday with a hot barre class and a candlelight yoga flow. But, I did it.
I’m finding that the older I get the more word oriented I am. Mantras, quotes and words of affirmation help move me along throughout the day. I also have the Webster Dictionary app on my phone and enjoy knowing the word of the day. #nerdalert
So, I have a question for you! What motivates you?
As always, thanks for reading! xoxo.
