GRATITUDES + BREAKTHROUGHS // May 16, 2017

Gratitudes
The rain held off on Saturday for Natalie + Paul’s big day! I was so worried on Friday with the intense amount of rain we were getting, I wanted to make sure we had time to slip outside for their portraits. They had the perfect day, even with gray skies it wasn’t too hot and it drizzled for about an hour during the ceremony. Immediately after we saw peeks of the sunshine while we were down at the waterfront in Georgetown for bridal party pictures. We had a little excitement when one of the groomsmen clearly split his pants from cheek to back of the knee! We popped over to Gateway Park for their romantic formals and we had the place to ourselves with mini rose bushes and clear views of the Washington Monument. Once we got back the bride actually took a small nap (another first for NPP Brides) and was ready to go for the reception. Cocktail hour had passed appetizers, cocktails and adorable personalized koozies. Their reception had lovely soft florals with pops of coral and Dogwood blooms, as well as the most epic views of Georgetown and Washington. Natalie + Paul also decided to pass on cake and instead had ice cream sandwiches and cupcakes!
On Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day with a dog walk and an appointment at Bare Minerals for my Mom. This year we wanted to pamper her in a way that would keep on giving so we had her make-up done and treated her to all of the products she liked. We also surprised her with her very own Nat’s t-shirt. She mentioned at opening day that she wanted a shirt that said “Ain’t baseball great!” and we searched the interwebs and couldn’t find it. We reached out to our dear friend Mandy who owns Capital Letters, she was able to make sure our Mom had her t-shirt!
I successfully completed my small challenge. I took 5 yoga classes within a week and actually did them consecutively. I’m working on another 5 day challenge this week, although it probably won’t be in a row, I’m happy with these shorter periods of time. It allows me to plan my week in a way that works with my schedule without that fear of failure or the actual feeling of failure.
Breakthrough
I got another reminder in patience this week. With Devin officially back at school I had to readjust to taking care of all of the animals by myself. Mosby felt like he wanted to test my unconditional love by peeing on my bed Wednesday morning. Now, we’ve officially had him for a year and he has never – not – once – ever – peed on the bed. It wasn’t the best way to start my morning but I took care of it. I removed the sheets and our pillow top before it could soak onto the mattress protector with the waterproof lining. That afternoon after all of the sheets were washed and ready to go back on the bed I noticed I left the bedroom door open and he had peed on the bed again. Yup, that’s right… again! I was furious and began the laundry process again.
Fast forward two days and I was dropping a few items at a friends house and had to leave both Ava and Mosby in the car for about 15 minutes. In that time frame the two of them destroyed a package of ranch flavored dried chickpeas, I could smell them as I opened the door. What I didn’t notice was the radio knob that Mosby had chewed off my dashboard. So as a recap he peed on my bed two times in one day and he also ate my radio knob.
A big huge reminder in patience and also that Mosby need to be watched at all times even a year later.
As always, thanks for reading. xoxo.
